Artsy Wednesday Celeb Mani

Hello and welcome to this weeks Artsy Wednesday: Celebrity Inspired Manicures

I took My inspiration from Miss Katy Perry & the blinged out Mani she rocked at the MTV Awards..

KP had a silver base and rhinestones covering each finger...I took the less is more approach and only used rhinestones on My ring finger as an accent. I also switched out clear rhinestones for irridecent ones.

I really love the way it turned out. I hardly ever wear silver polish & it felt fancy with the bling added

Silvivor by WetNWild was used as the base...I think WNW Grays anatomy would have looked pretty cool as well

May Julep colors

This month I received Sheryl a sheer butterscotch shimmer with hint of golden bronze & Kylie a sultry violet magnetic.

I was excited about Kylie...this was My first experience with a magnetic polish (as You can tell from the swatches I need practice lol)

Sheryl was pretty as well...a bit sheer but build able.

I will say that the brushes were not that great this go around & made application a bit challenging. I am hoping this won't be a habit.

*The box also included a makeup bag, foot file & roll on foot softener

Can't wait to do a Manicure with Kylie....anybody else using magnetic polish?

Loreal Colorwheel Swatches

Precious coral & Silver Sparkle are from the Summer 2012 It’s Gold or Nothing At All Collection.

Precious coral seems a bit dusty compared to other corals I own, but still bold...and silver sparkle is beautiful and icey looking with irridecent glitter.

Best Black Polish

We all use a black somewhere in our stash...as a base or an accent. I'm always on the hunt for the perfect black nail polish...I usually use Wet N Wilds Ebony Hates Chris...but not anymore!

And the Award for the best black nail polish goes to: KLEANCOLORS BLACK!

Now I really want to send a shout out To the person who recommended this perfect black this week on Facebook . I can't remember who it was but Im forever grateful.

This is a perfect one coat black. It dries quickly and has a slightly flat look to it. I love the formula, although this is not a 3Free polish I'm ok with it since it performs so well.

I found it at a random beauty supply store in downtown L.A for 1.99

This is My first KLEANCOLORS polish...anybody recommend any of the other colors?

ChildhoOd Beauty

Every since I was a little girl I loved things that smell good. I've always had a love for products...I still use baby Magic lotion because that's what My mother used on Me from day one. Certain smells can just take You back to a time when things were simpler.

So today I thought I'd show two products that I loved as a kid & still love as an adult and to this day I use both products frequently.

First is My Holy Grail lip balm LIPSMACKER!!! I live for these colorful tubes of sweet moisturizing goodness. Honestly the best lip balm ever....i have more tubes than i can count stashed in all My jean pockets & purses & lot of other random places..incase of a chapped emergency lol..My favorite being Cotton Candy a light pink that gives a light moist nude effect that I loooove.

The Second product that I love from childhood is none other than Mr Bubble bubble bath in original bubble. I've taken hundreds of bubble baths with this and the smell just automatically relaxes me and reminds me of many fun memoriesp. This bubble bath is Tear free & hypo-allergenic. Plus it smells like clean bubble gum :)

I never take My self too seriously..I love color & I love fun products...especially the ones I've grown up with...

What fun products do you still use from Your childhood?

Artsy Wednesday Newspaper Mani

"Extra! Extra! Paint All About it!"
This weeks Artsy Wednesday theme is the Newspaper Manicure.

This was My first time attempting the newspaper technique..it's pretty much transferring the the ink onto your nail.
I wanted to add a little whimsy to My Mani, so I used a pink base & chose to use the Funnies. I picked The Beetle Baily Comic Strip that I've been reading since I was younger.

I first painted my nails with 2 coats of of Color Club He Loves Me, a pepto bismol colored Pink creme

When My nails were fully dried I dipped My nail in alcohol then pressed on the newspaper picture. Then carefully peel off the paper & wah lah like Magic the image appears.
Seal the image with a topcoat and Your done.
But if Your like me and need some sparkle in Your life add a coat of sparkle. I used the Genius topcoat & in person it turned my newspaper mani from black and white into full rainbow color....I tried capturing it but my camera can't stand rainbow sparkles..sorry

But You get the idea ;) join us next week for Celeb inspired Manicures.

Manicure of The Day

Today's Mani is a bright red creme from L.A Girls Disco Brites called "Disco Fever" (black light polish)

I added an accent finger with Milani One Coat Glitter in "Silver Dazzle"

The Milani glitter is a bit old and was a pita to work with...it was gloppy & hard to spread evenly. I'm going to add thinner to it and see if that helps.

P.S
If anyone has the disco lights collection and has taken pics under a black light I'd love to see...post on My Facebook page ;)

Zoya Blogger Collection

My first Full sized Zoya polish happens to be the Blogger Collection :) how appropriate...right?
I'm a Birchbox subscriber & as soon as I heard about this collection I knew it would be mine.
In the preview photo the colors look pretty similar. After swatching them they are nothing alike at all. Belle is a shimmery sheer pink that leans towards peach. Coraline is a sheer orange red coral & Kate a sheer punchy orange. All three dry to a super shiny finish & will look great layered. Belle as a shimmery top and the other two in jelly sandwiches..great summer colors!

Can't wait to experiment...

Leopard Rouge

The first OPI I ever wore happens to be this beautiful reddish wine shimmer shade called "I'm Not Really A Waitress"
I recently came across her again. This is a great red for My skintone. Very pretty all on its own...even better when it goes wild! I decided to add Leapord print down one side in coordinating shades. Using Color Clubs Red-iCal Gypsy for the spots (wine creme)& OPI Midnite In Moscow (shimmery blackened burgandy) for the outline.
To make it extra Fab I've added a coat of My own Signature Color The GENiUS TopCoat (a course linear holographic Clear coat)

Super cute, Super Easy, Super Wild!!

Colors Used:

•OPI Im Not Really A Waitress
•Color Club Red-ical Gypsy
•OPI Midnight in Moscow
•POLiSHED GENiUS TopCoat

VS Bombshell Summer Edition

“Hello, Bombshell. Welcome to paradise. Lush tropics. Untamed beauty. Let the summer begin. A blend of jasmine dew, white amber and starfruit,”- Victoria’s Secret.

Mmmmm...I love my fragrances & with summer fast approaching it was time for something new and refreshing. A trip to Victoria Secrets is just what the doctor ordered. The sales associate was kind enough to show me this limited edition smell good when I explained My needs.
It's fresh light and pretty....yet has staying power. I needed something that could take me through the beach and back but still nice enough for dinner.
Plus the bottles pretty cute sitting on the vanity ;)

What are Your summer faves?
Some of mine include Escada Rio, Gucci Envy & Tommy Hilfiger Cologne (yesss the men's)

Kyms Big Day Swatches

Today is My soon to be sister in laws Bridal Shower for her up coming wedding June 2nd.
Her wedding colors are Wisteria purple, ivory & silver. To commemorate her Day I've made her a custom nail polish. Appropriately named "Kym's Big Day"
This is a sheer light purple Holo. Made with various pigments as well as spectra flair mixed into a milky base. This color is buildable to bottle color with three coats as shown on the Colorwheel. I've also swatched on top of black, white & Color Clubs Puccilicious. There is a dramatic transformation on black.
I dressed the bottle with rhinestone "buttons" to coordinate the wedding colors and topped it with a black bow tie.

Hope You enjoy....

Ps..I apologize for the swatch pics. My camera doesn't seem to like holos.
